Glass has contributed to the majority of the waste in our ocean and in our landfills. Every year we dump in an excessive amount of empty alcoholic beverage bottles and other glass drink bottles in the ocean. This delicate and beautiful item is made from silica which in its raw material element comes from sand. Even though glass is made from completely harmless and impactless materials, it does not help that these natural resources are burned to an extremely high point before they can reach the transparent beautiful look. The same goes for the beautiful glass partition wall Malaysia and the glass coca-cola bottle that we all love.
The energy consumption of glass manufacturing has caused a lot of concern among scientists. What’s even more worrying is the amount of environmental pollution is contributed by glass. Glass gets dumped into oceans and lands in millions every day. It causes so much more impact than plastic. Glass is often thought of as a greener alternative to plastic when in reality, it’s manufacturing, processing, and elimination is just as bad as plastic. Manufacturing also contributes to air pollution during its melting process. This is why the only solution to reducing the number of damage is to start using recycled glasses.
Glass can be molded and melted into so many shapes and forms. We see it as sheets, walls, bottles, and windows. The use of glass cannot be diminished so we have to start thinking about effectively using glass recycling. Glass has been officially recognized as hundred percent recyclable which is extremely good news for our environment and sustainability. It being completely recyclable from top to bottom means as consumers we have a huge role in how we contribute to the recycling process. The world simply cannot pick up after us when we throw away glass bottles anywhere. As consumers, it is important to sort our glass jars, bottles and put them towards a recycling plant.
Using recycled glass bottles has so many implications. For one we are saving money and being cost-effective with recycled glasses. Companies that use glasses and glass packaging that is recycled manage to cut down their cost by a significant amount. Consumers have better access to glassed products because recycled glass is a lot cheaper. Furthermore, the consumption of energy is lowered which directly contributes to how much money we save and spend as well.
Every country needs a proper recycling scheme to make the glass recycling process a lot more streamlined. As we said, the world cannot pick up after everyone who throws their glasses in the ocean and dump them into the trash. Glass can be easily recycled if they are thrown out separately from our typical rotting trash and binned perfectly. So many brands include the initiative to collect empty glass bottles after the consumer uses them. In various countries, governments have established glass recycling stations where people can put their glass in after using them. Our target is to increase the number of recycled glass and its usage in the future.
